International Style Skills

International Style Skills

Overview

Some of agilty’s more technical courses such as UKI Master Series,  USDAA Master Challenge or AAC Challenge classes offer some unique challenges. The individual challenges aren’t always more difficult, but they are different and require different skills from both the dog and handler.

This class is designed to help you develop, perfect and internalize the skills needed to run these courses in a smooth and effective manner. As these skills become second nature you will find that they can apply in many other situations such as AAC and USDAA Master Standard and Snooker classes.

Structure

Each week we examine some short sequences and develop strategies to handle them that are appropriate for each dog and handler team. Then we work on the skills required. Generally people are at different levels of proficiency with any particular skill. So one team may work on basic proficiency with one jump, while another is building fluency with the same skill in a short sequence.

Obstacle angles and spacing are adjusted to increase the challenge or make things more manageable. Skills are either isolated to work on fundamental mechanics, or strung together to develop fluidity in a sequence. This way all teams experience just the right degree of challenge to assure improvement and success.

This series will use primarily jumps and tunnels and is suitable for dogs at a variety of experience levels. We will perfect whatever skills you already have and then expand on them. Most importantly it is fun!
